Caitlyn's PCOS Story
Posted June 20, 2005
My husband and I have been together for
5 years, married for 4. 3 months after our wedding we
gave birth to a beautiful, perfect, healthy baby boy...
He will turn 4 this September.
At that time my husband and I decided
not to start trying for another baby until after Gabriel
(our son)'s first birthday. So, after his birthday,
we stopped using protection, and hoped to get pregnant.
After a year, I visited my doctor who
then put me on birth control pill to regulate my period...
She told me to come back 3 months later, and proceeded
to stop the birth control.... 3 months later she sent
me for a pelvic ultrasound.. Everything was fine, but
there was still no period.... I continued the 3 month
routine with this doctor, until March of this year...
When frustrated, I called the only fertility specialist
that our insurance covers... 10 minutes in his office
he had diagnosed me with PCOS
- Polycystic Ovarian
Syndrome.
I am now taking provera every month to
get a period, and hope to start clomid therapy soon.
Throughout this journey, I have been thankful for the
wonderful son that I already have, but have longed to
have more children. I am keeping my hopes high, And
know that I will resolve this issue one way or another....
